Booking
You do not need to book for day trips - just turn up at one of the stated departure points and enjoy your day tramping. However, please ensure you have reviewed the advice above.
Sunday 22 January
Motutapu Island
There is a network of easy tracks linking historic and natural places of interest as well as stunning views of the Hauraki Gulf islands and Coromandel. Pick up a DOC map brochure from the ticket office at the Ferry Building. Take all your own food and drink; no rubbish disposal on the island. Bring your togs for a swim. Buy your ticket to Home Bay and meet on the wharf.

Destination: Home Bay, Motutapu
Departure: 9:15am Downtown Ferry Terminal to Rangitoto via Devonport at 9.25am. Change boats at Rangitoto and continue to Home Bay, arriving at 10.10am
Return: 4.30pm from Home Bay
Cost: $31.50 adult return, $15.80 children (5-15yrs) Please note: Fullers have not yet finalised their 2012 timetable. Please check on the website or with Brian nearer to the time for final details.

Walk Glover Park, Churchill Park, Tahuna Torea Reserve, Point England and return. Can be shortened at Tahuna Torea.

Filter Track to Scenic Drive, Scenic Drive, Waitakere Dam Access Rd, Fenceline Track, Robinson Ridge Track, Cascade Track, Anderson Track, East Tunnel Mouth Track.

Lake Wainamu
Medium: Lake Wainamu Track, Houghton, Wainamu Bush, Long Rd, Smythe Ridge, Houghton, around the lake clockwise and over the sand dunes to carpark.

Piha - Glen Esk Rd
Maungaroa Lookout, Maungaroa Ridge, Quarry, McElwain Tracks to Anawhata Rd, Centennial, Home, Winstone, Connect, Kitekite Tracks to Glen Esk Rd.

Sunday 12 February
Karekare
Medium: Zion Hill, Zion Ridge, Buck Taylor, Odlin Timber Track to Orange Peel Corner, then Walker Ridge, Muir, Pararaha Valley Track, then along the beach to Pohutukawa Glade and back to carpark.

Long: Walk up road a little way, then past waterfall to Taraire Track, La Trobe Track, a short walk along Lone Kauri Rd to Huia Ridge Track, follow this to Karamatura Forks, then take Walker Ridge, Muir, Zion Ridge and Zion Hill Tracks back to carpark

Hunuas - Waharau
Medium: (dry): Waharau Ridge Loop Track up to Adams Lookout. Return to complete the Loop Track. This is a fairly long, steep climb, so take your time, then enjoy the views.

Long: (wet): Waharau Ridge Track up to Adams Lookout, then it’s off down the Tapapakanga Track and follow the stream down, across farmland, out to the main road and wait for the bus (gets out about 3.30-3.45pm). Not for beginners.

North Piha - Marawhara Stream
Medium: (dry): Garden Rd, then Nikau Grove Walk, Maungaroa Ridge to McKenzie Junction, Forbes, Centennial, Winstone, Connect past top of waterfall, Kitekite, Glen Esk Rd, Maungaroa Lookout Track, Nikau Grove and back to cars.

Long: (wet): Garden Rd, Nikau Grove Walk, Maungaroa Ridge, Pole Line, Anawhata Rd to Hettig Track. Then drop into stream and follow it all the way back to the cars. This is an attractive and easy stream but requires good balance and fitness. Not for beginners.

Mangere Mountain-Ambury Regional Park - Easy Trip
Follow track up Mangere Mountain and down other side to Pikitea St, Wallace Rd, Wellesley Rd, into Ambury Regional Park, Kiwi Esplanade, Coronation St, back to Domain.

Sunday 4 March
Buckletons Beach-Tawharanui
(Low tide Auckland 11.00am)
Medium: Along coast to Tawharanui Regional Park (12 km). Then do some of the Park tracks (there are over 20 km of them); 6 hrs total. Bring your togs as there will be time for a swim.
