Under 40s Group (YUF faction)

Welcome! We are a friendly group of keen young people that love going tramping. We have trips for beginners as well as more experienced trampers.

We organize trips for Under 40s, sometimes combined with Auckland Tramping Club and of course the club runs regular day & weekend trips open to everyone. We recently ran a highly successful bush craft course, which is a great way to meet fellow trampers. There are many beautiful places to go tramping in and around the Auckland area. The Waitakere Ranges, with subtropical forest, waterfalls, surf beaches and a club hut and the Hunua Ranges provide numerous tracks. The Hauraki Gulf Islands, including New Zealands 4th largest island, Great Barrier, with hot pools and Kauri forests, as well as serious tramping areas like the Kaimai Ranges and the lovely Coromandel give huge variety to the region. We also travel further afield to the central North Island Parks, such as Whirinaki, Tongariro National Park, Pirongia, and the Kaimanawa and Urewera Ranges. And the South Island, in the summer.

Under 40s Monthly Meetings

We meet once a month (usually around the start of the month) at Cardrona Pub in Normanby Road, Mt Eden. We are a friendly bunch and everyone is welcome - look for the group with the pile of tramping guides in the centre!

Participating in Under 40s Trips

Visitors are very welcome and we encourage you to particiapte in at least 2 tramps before joining the club. Please read the Day Trip Information or Weekend Trip Information (PDF files) as required before participating. Being part of Auckland Tramping Club offers many great benefits, such as reduced rates on the Blue Bus, at Memorial Hut on Mount Ruapehu, as well as being able to attend excellent courses such as the famous Snowcraft Course. We can sign your membership application form on a trip or at group meetings.
